Final Project

Social Narrative Landscape

So my work wasn't really connecting together. Julee talked to me and helped me decide what I should do instead. It is now narrowed down from overall public art to the Wyland Wall in Portsmouth.

Not exactly everyone is in this one, but most are.

Weekend Shots

Over the weekend, we were to take our camera with us and take pictures. Here are my chosen 3 images to share from that:

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seven Deadly Sins of Buildings

Okay, so I changed two of my images. I got a little too tilt happy with the camera, so I went back and redid two images. So here's the final of my redone Seven Deadly Sins of Buildings.

Lust

Wrath

Gluttony

Greed

Sloth

Envy

Pride

Seven Deadly Sins

I ended up changing a few things in my Seven Deadly Sins project. I changed to a different image for Wrath, I muted the color palette so the tones matched better, and for my Gluttony shot, I combined two images to get what I wanted.

Pride

Gluttony

Sloth

Greed

Envy

Wrath

Kingsbury Architecture

Here are the results from our in class exercise.

Decaying

I don't even know how to describe this place. It was a rundown shop with the owner's home behind it. So I guess I was kinda trespassing. But I got some good photos!

 Applecrest

I went up to applecrest two weeks ago, and got some photos I thought I'd post!

 In Class Scavenger Hunt

This was an in class assignment where we were on a scavenger hunt for certain things.

This shot was taken at f/10, with a shutter speed of 1/320 and an ISO setting of 200.

Michelle running was taken at f/22 with a shutter speed of 0.5 and ISO 100.

The silhouette shot was taken at f/10 with a shutter speed of 1/320 and ISO 200.

One Color

I know we're going to do this assignment later, because Julee wants to combine it with the Scavenger Hunt assignment. But before she told us we were going to change it, I took some pictures for what the assignment was, so I thought I'd post some of my finds. The color I chose was red.

Here's my contact sheet:

Time of Day Shots

For this assignment, we were to take shots of different areas at different times of day while using ISO 100. During this, I worked a lot more with Shutter Speed Priority because I was constantly changing that to get the correct setting to let enough light into the shot.

Cloudy Morning

Sunny Afternoon

Rainy Night

White Balance

I haven't fooled around much with white balance. I did a little bit on the golden mean assignment, but other than that, I've never really done too much with it. So for this assignment, we were to do two different shots of the same thing using different white balance settings. Sometimes, I'm not sure which one I like the most.

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scanner as Camera

For this assignment, we were to make self portraits while using a scanner as a camera. I saw some of the samples Julee gave us in class and I took those as inspiration for my own project. I know it said to post our favorite 3, but I thought I'd put the 6 shots I edited down to.

Golden Mean

So for this week's assignment, we had to read Chapter Two and do an exercise on the Golden Mean. The exercise was to build an image with the framing aspect ratio of 1 unit x 1.62 units. It suggested that we try not to put our subject in the center of the photo and use the Golden Ratio to divide the frame into thirds. It mentioned how the usual point of entrance into a picture is the bottom, so I tried to do something along those lines.
